GMAT Test Overview

The GMAT is a standardized test used by business schools in the MBA admissions process. It is not a test of business competence or specific subject knowledge, but rather an assessment of quantitative, verbal and writing skills.

The GMAT is used by MBA admissions teams as a common benchmark in MBA applications, because applicants can have widely varying undergraduate education, skills, and work experience.

For more information, please see our GMAT Overview page.

GMAT Scores

The GMAT is scored from 200 to 800 (the average test taker score is 540). The leading schools require a score of 700 or above, and most competitive programs require a score of at least 650. You will also receive a percentile rank, showing how well you scored compared to all other test takers. For more information please see our GMAT Scores page.

Register for the GMAT

You must register to take the GMAT online at www.mba.com. Here you can view the nearest testing centers to you, and book an appointment to take the test.
